International communications and collaboration at their best: representatives of Worldcom’s independently owned communications agencies from around the world gather twice a year to exchange information and ideas. During the global pandemic, these gatherings have taken place online.

International communications continue to grow all the time. How to find competent and reliable partners around the world to secure your business goals through communications and public relations? How to choose the best service providers from international communications agency chains for your own goals and resources?

Medita’s answer is the Worldcom Public Relations Group, in which we have been a partner since 2010. Medita is the only Finnish partner in Worldcom, which bundles the knowledge and expertise of 130 independently owned and managed agencies providing reliable services in 115 cities in North and South America, Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

In order to be accepted as a Worldcom partner, an agency has to demonstrate its professional and business expertise, as well as its ability to meet the diverse communications and public relations needs of its partners and clients. The performance of each agency is monitored through regular peer reviews in order to ensure quality.

Local knowledge and networking skills in each country

More and more companies in Finland have a need to communicate across borders. Reaching the desired audiences requires much more than online tools or social media platforms. While technology offers increasingly sophisticated targeting opportunities, the human factor is ultimately decisive.

Above all, communications and interaction require understanding the mental landscape of stakeholders. You need to know where, when and how to reach the right people and organisations for a reasonable cost and amount of effort.

Whenever a company has communications ambitions outside Finland, contents must be targeted and localised beyond just switching languages. Localisation requires special professional skills to tailor the message to address precisely the intended audience – without losing sight of the original goal. This applies to press releases, digital campaigns and even newsletters for customers, representatives or the organisation’s own employees in another country.

What is most important, however, is that your communications partner has not only the operational skills but also strategic awareness. Without understanding your strategy, resources can easily be wasted.

Exchanging ideas and a face-to-face partnerships

The heads of independently owned Worldcom agencies are personally responsible for the services and pricing of their teams based on offers and orders. Worldcom agencies enjoy good interaction with each other, and the experiences and observations of partners in different countries are often surprisingly similar, despite differences in costs and culture. Finland is relatively expensive compared to many other countries.

Over the years, many of our partnerships have grown into personal friendships and practical collaborations in which all parties contribute with their own input. Media projects, monitoring and reporting are typical forms of collaboration, and shared clients often order a wide range of services, such as content production, event communications, product launches, influencer marketing and social media management.

Worldcom agencies is collaborate on a day-to-day basis. The agencies share client relationships and projects across borders. Sharing knowledge and exchanging ideas are also important reasons to stay in touch with each other. Targeted information about a variety of industries and themes, such as technology, healthcare, and reputation management, is shared in smaller working groups and meetings.

In addition, Worldcom produces information for the benefit of its partner agencies and their clients about topical management themes around the world. The Worldcom Confidence Index is also reported regularly in Finnish on the Medita blog and in our newsletter.
